Ponmudi ,Hill Station Kerala (61 Kms from Thiruvananthapuram
city)
Ponmudi : takes 2 hours by road, driving 65 Kms north east from
Trivandrum, to get to Ponmudi.Bus services are frequent.An idyllic
hill resort with narrow, winding pathways and cool green, wooded
environs. Ponmudi is located 915m above sea level. Along with a
variety of beautiful mountain flowers, exotic butterflies , small
rivulets, springs and the deer park nearby, this hill station also
has excellent trekking trails.
Trekking is a passion with the visitors to Ponmudi (altidude :
1066 m), lying within easy driving distance from Trivandrum. You
will find yourself compulsively pausing every now and then to drink
in deep spectacular sweep of hill ranges, tea-estates and mistcovered
valleys, peppered with little toy-like stone cottages painted a
pretty violet,pink or white with pointed and peaked roofs.
Ponmudi throws up other surprises too. Orchids, for instance, thrive
in wild profusion. A charming deer park is only 3 Kms away from
the resort and Golden Valley - another pretty picnic spot endowed
with natural springs - is a little further down the hill.
