Vettakkorumakan Kavu, Nilambur Kovilakom :Kiratha Moorthy :Kalamezhuthu pattu

Vettakkorumakan Kavu, Nilambur Kovilakom, Malappuram District
This temple dedicated to Kiratha Moorthy (Lord Siva as hunter) is located in Nilambur town. Known for the famous Kalamezhuthu pattu - a rare ritual art of floor painting with coloured powders. Natural pigments extracted from minerals and leaves form the base of these powders. Images of Lord Ayyappa and Vettakorumakan (the presiding deity of the temple) are drawn accompanied by pattu or prayer songs.

Nilambur is also famous for the world's oldest Teak plantation, Canolly's Plot. The nearest airport is at Kozhikode 36 km north of Malappuram district. One can reach Malappuram by either road or rail and from there an hour's journey by a local bus will take you to Nilambur.
